Escape Room Player Limits

Escape Room Player Limits for our escape rooms are going to depend on what experience you’re playing. Our rooms can be played with anywhere from 2 to 20 people depending on the size and difficulty of the game.

What are Live Actors in Escape Rooms?

In order to better understand how we determine the Escape Room Player Limits for our escape rooms, it’s important to differentiate between what we consider general and mega experiences.

General Experiences

Our general experience is our average escape room. They are typically around 1,000 square feet and feature multiple rooms or zones to explore. They are usually only one hour long. While the experiences range in difficulty, they do not offer as much ‘divide and conquering’ as our mega games. Our general experiences include games such as Witch Hunt, Fear the Bogeyman, and Day of the Dead.

Mega Experiences

Our mega experiences are less common, as they are massive compared to our general experiences. At three times the size of a standard game, there is plenty of space to roam and many puzzles to solve. These games also allow you two hours to complete your mission. Since they are so much larger, they are able to fit significantly more people within their space. Cure Z and our newest game, We’re All Mad Here, are our mega experiences as of now.

All of Our Games are Private

All of our games are  private experiences. This means that when you make your reservation, it will be only your group within the experience. For any game, the more players, the better. This allows you to have more brains tackling each puzzle. Plus, everyone tends to think in different ways. However, for now, make sure you have your headcount for your group when you book, and be aware that it will only be the people you register within the escape room.

Recommended Minimum Players for General Experiences

With our general experiences, the recommended number of players will vary depending on which experience you’re playing. All of our escape rooms have a numerical difficulty rating, and generally, the higher the difficulty, the more people we’d recommend. All of our games are certainly capable of being played with only two people, though. However, the more people in your party, the higher your chances of winning. If we had to name a recommended average group size for our general experiences, though, it would be 4 people.

Recommended Minimum Players for Mega Experiences

As the name implies, our mega experiences are significantly larger and, often, more difficult than our general experiences. Because of this, we recommend these experiences for larger groups, as there is more ground to cover and harder puzzles to decipher.

We would generally advise that you have at least six people in your group to have the best chance of solving the escape room successfully. Of course, you are more than welcome to play with less, with the knowing that the game might become more difficult. However, be aware that there is a required minimum of 4 players, due to the size of the game.

Maximum People to Play

Officially? Escape Room Player Limits depend on the experience. Each game has a set limit of players allowed in at one time. This number varies between eight to twenty people. It is determined by how many people can fit comfortably inside the game and still be able to solve the puzzles.

Maximum Players for General Experiences

For our general experiences, the maximum number of players ranges from 8 to 12 players. This is determined by the space per room, overall size of experience, and number of puzzles. With these limits, there’s always plenty of space to move about the room. Meanwhile, you’ll still have plenty of brains to think through the challenging puzzles.

Maximum Players for Mega Experiences

Our mega experiences have higher player maximums as they are larger experiences that feature more puzzle content. These games typically hold up to 20 players. There’s always another puzzle to solve, so these experiences lend themselves well towards a ‘divide and conquer’ mentality.

Benefits of Having a Larger Group

Overall, larger groups are often more successful than smaller groups. The more people you have, the more brainpower you have attacking each puzzle. This often makes it faster and easier to solve each puzzle. Plus, everyone thinks differently.

While one person decodes one puzzle, another person can decode a separate puzzle that challenged them differently. Having more people means having a better chance of someone instantly figuring out how to solve each puzzle.

Since each puzzle requires you to think in different ways, having a larger group with players that all have their own unique thought processes will only help you succeed. So, while the minimum and maximum players for our escape rooms can vary, we recommend going with a larger party.

History

The idea came to Tone Purzycki back in 2011 after he wrote a screenplay that developed into a live-streaming game. The game revolved around an actor trapped in a situation and the audience had to solve puzzles to figure out where he was trapped. The “Find Me Event” had more than 1,000 people playing over the course of several hours. After the success of several other streaming events, the idea of an escape room was born.
